Swords was heading south on Davidsburg Road when a 25-year-old Carlisle man turned left onto West Canal Street — entering the path of the Dover motorcyclist, according to a release by the Northern York County Regional Police Department.

The driver of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta stayed on the scene as crews arrived at the crash around 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 3, the NYCRPD detailed.

"Lifesaving efforts were performed at the scene on the motorcyclist. He was taken to York Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased," the police said in the release.

An autopsy has been scheduled at Lehigh Valley Hospital for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, the York County Coroner Pam Gay announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The NYCRPD continues to investigate this deadly crash.

He enjoyed lending a hand to those in need, riding and maintaining his motorcycles, and "spreading laughter with family and friends," as written in his obituary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elaine M. (Sabold) Swords; their three children, David M. Swords (wife Nicole), Christine M. Betts (husband James), and Brian K. Swords (wife Daria); five grandchildren; four siblings John, Rick, Kathy, and Barbara.

A visitation will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 6084 West Canal Road, Abbottstown, PA 17301 at 10 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7., according to his obituary.
